Welcome to Compete Sports Performance & Rehab. A leader in sports performance training and sports medicine for athletes seeking to get an edge on the competition.
Founded in 2009 by Chris Phillips, who has spent more than 20 years in professional sports, Compete Sports Performance & Rehab focuses on transforming individuals of all athletic levels into the best athletes they can be. Compete Sports Performance and Rehab, based in Lake Forest, CA has grown into a first class operation working with some of the best athletes and teams while supporting many youth club organizations and high schools in Orange County and Los Angeles.
The Compete Difference
Chris Phillips, owner of Compete Sports Performance & Rehab, just returned from the Olympics in Beijing where he worked as the athletic trainer for the Czech Republic Olympic figure skating team. In addition, six of his clients were also there competing with Team USA figure skating, Czech Republic figure skating, and the Chinese national ice hockey team…and their results were amazing!
Why? These athletes know the importance of training and conditioning on and off the ice. Athletic trainers improve functional outcomes and specialize in patient education to prevent injury and re-injury. And these athletes have put their full trust in Compete. Preventative care, injury rehab, off-ice conditioning, and strength training has yielded a very positive return on investment for this group of athletes.
- US Figure Skating Olympic Team members: Nathan Chen finished with a gold medal; Mariah Bell was the oldest US woman champion in 95 years and finished 10th in the Olympics; and pairs Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier had their personal best score, finishing sixth overall. Chen, Knierim, and Frazier also finished second in the team event, winning the silver medal..
- For Czech Republic skater Michal Brezina, this was his fourth time on the Olympic stage.
- Chinese Olympic Hockey Team and longtime client, Cory Kane, led his team in scoring during the Olympic games.
With over 100 college commitments across multiple sports and many of the Compete athletes now moving up to the pros, Chis and his colleagues Mike Hannegan and Marco Nunez are no strangers to the world of professional sports. Each of them has worked with professional teams on a daily basis in the NHL, NBA, arena football, professional soccer, and the Olympics. When clients walk in the door at Compete, they are benefiting from that wealth of experience.
“As a Team USA figure skater, I spend as much time on recovery as I do training on the ice,” said Mariah Bell, the 2022 US National Champion and Olympian. “Chris Phillips with Compete has been a great addition to my team. I rely on Chris and his staff as the primary resource for sports rehab and massage. He has been instrumental in my overall wellness and conditioning.”
