Hosted by former NHL goaltender Guy Hebert and broadcaster Kent French, the episode explores the critical role that athletic trainers and performance specialists play behind the scenes in professional sports.

Phillips spent six seasons with the Anaheim Ducks (formerly the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim), working closely with Hebert and the team during one of the most memorable eras in franchise history, including their run to the 2003 Stanley Cup Final.

With more than 30 years of experience in professional sports performance and rehabilitation, Phillips has worked across multiple leagues and disciplines, helping elite athletes perform at the highest level while staying healthy and resilient.

Throughout his career, he has supported some of the most recognized names in professional sports, including:

  • Alex Ovechkin

  • Teemu Selanne

  • Paul Kariya

  • Jean-Sébastien Giguère

  • Joy Fawcett

He also reflects on the relationships and teamwork that happen behind the scenes — the coaches, trainers, therapists, and support staff who play a critical role in every athlete’s career.

Today, Phillips leads Compete Sports Performance & Rehab, where he continues applying decades of professional experience to help athletes of all levels improve performance, recover from injuries, and stay durable throughout their careers.
